REMODELLING

Diamond Ring.

My customers came to me with a specific budget and concept. They wanted me to take the heirloom ring that used to belong to the husband’s mother, and convert it into the dream diamond engagement ring for the wife.

This one was tough. We discussed designs for six weeks until we discovered the right concept. With a clear nod to its origins, we enhanced this ring with an open setting that gave better light to the diamonds, and carefully crafted the curves and diamond detailing on the side to create an extremely elegant and modern ring.

We used all the same 18ct yellow gold and original diamond, only adding in the accent diamonds on the edge.

Sapphire & Diamond Ring.

This ring started as a three stone setting, similar to the one shown (originals were never photographed). The stone was slightly chipped, the band was too thin and the claws were almost worn through.

The lady I remodelled this for wanted something traditional, as it had belonged to her mother. When she finally got the courage to remodel it, we went through the design process and, after looking at a few concepts, she fell in love with this extra modern design.

The results are spectacular, and she even called me months later to say how happy she is – people stop to compliment her on the design every day.

Diamond & Ruby Ring.

This engagement ring has so much meaning. A very close friend asked me to help design her ring, telling me she wanted a design that made her feel like she and her future husband were going to orbit each other.

But there were three other criteria. Her favourite colour is purple, she likes diamonds and she wanted to include rubies from an heirloom ring that belonged to her grandmother, who managed to survive with the piece through the Holocaust.

So here is the result. Two purple diamonds orbiting each other, surrounded by a wave of diamonds to emphasise movement, with the rubies complementing the design on the shoulders, all set in 18ct rose gold.

Aquamarine & Diamond Ring.

This ring was a journey of incredible transformation, using and rebuilding all the old pieces of jewellery that my customer no longer used. The pieces included rings, earrings and pendants.

We collected enough gold and extra diamonds to transform them into this elegant and classy ring. Made of reused 18ct gold with a gorgeous aquamarine centre, the diamonds balance and complement the centre stone on the shoulders.

Finally, we incorporated the initials of my customer, subtly included on each side of the ring setting.

Black Diamond Ring.

This was a simple restoration, but an extremely effective one. The customer’s original engagement ring had a standard store bought clear diamond that had fallen out years ago and he hadn’t worn it for ten years.

Her husband had snuck it out of the house and asked me to help him bring it back to life as a gift. As both of them are avid rock music enthusiasts and have a dark clothing style I asked if he would like to put a black diamond in the setting.

He didn’t take much convincing. Having not known they existed, we looked at a few and he became convinced that the colour and durability would be perfect.

Diamond Ring & Bands.

Originally two rings were brought in, from whcih I created two more. Together with my client, I designed interlocking curves, one including diamonds and one in 18ct yellow gold, both with larger diamonds in the middle.

So that she could envision the shape I had designed, we crafted them from wax, and from there, the final shape was determined. The wedding band was then made to fit the shape.

Multi Stone Pendant.

My client Julie can to me with Sapphire and Citrine stones that were sentimental for her. They had been sitting in a box for years and she finally decided to have them made into something. We discussed multiple options and settled on a pendant.

After some design concepts (13 in total) we agreed that another stone to compliment both colours would be a good idea and found a Green Tourmaline that suited beautifully.

The final design was chosen as this gorgeous piece. An 18ct White Gold pendant, layering the stones on top of each other, accented with diamonds.

Julie loves it, and thinks it has enhanced her stones exactly like she wanted.
